Hey folks, the annual Penntury will meet next Saturday, September 24th at 7 am at the button on Penn’s campus.
*New!* route is here: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/710142
Pace depends on who shows, but the ride will be no drop*. Please show up on a road bike in good functioning condition, with good tires inflated to proper pressure (5 or 6 flats across a group will add about an hour to the ride). There is not much climbing– but one of the climbs, though short, is steep– consider at least a 12-25 cassette so you can spin. Bring a helmet, water bottles, plenty of food, spare tubes, flat repairing materials, etc. We will probably stop for food/gatorade once on the way up, once halfway through, and once on the way back– but bring your own food as well. If you plan on attending, please shoot me an email (mfurlow@seas.upenn.edu) so I know how many we are expecting.
The Penntury is a tradition that predates many of your days on tricycles. Though it seems daunting, it really is quite an accomplishment and the we will ensure that everyone will be at a comfortable pace. Get pumped for your first century!
*Though the ride is no-drop, we ask that you know your limits. If you have never ridden over 20 miles, for instance, you are likely not ready for a century. If you have any questions, please email me.
